Simon Belmont seems to be in a bit of hot water! Just as he defeated Dracula the first time, the nutty ol' vampire was cruel enough to place a nasty curse on Simon which would soon kill him unless he revived Dracula and killed him again. Furthermore, ugly monsters were beginning to spook the countrymen and countrywomen (not to mention the countrychildren) because of Dracula's strong influence upon the evil creatures of the night. Simon had better do something fast before the world ends in chaos... and the curse causes Simon to suffer fatal heart failure!
Castlevania II: Simon's Quest for the NES is considered to be the black sheep of the NES Castlevania trilogy (heck, perhaps of the entire series), just as Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was (and still is) considered the odd one out of the Zelds series of games. This is mainly due to the left turn the game seemed to take. Instead of sticking with the primarily action-platformer style gameplay that made the original Castlevania a success, Konami opted to add an RPG/exploration element to it; because of this new RPG element, more dialogue than Castlevania games should have was added, resulting in the townsfolk saying some pretty odd things. I will closely examine this game's dialogue more closely, holding up a magnifying glass in search of the truth behind every wacky message.
