BIOGRAPHY: Scooter was the brainchild of H.P. Baxxter and Rick J. Jordan (formerly of the 80s synth-pop group "Celebrate the Nun"), as well as Ferris Bueller (H.P.'s cousin). Scooter was originally just a project for fun, but after the unperceived club success of their first single, "Vallée de Larmes", there was a strong urge for them to continue with the project. Scooter released "Hyper Hyper" in Germany in 1994, which brought them even more success -- the single went platinum, selling over 700,000 copies! The band continued to churn out hit singles and eclectic albums for several years. In 1998, Ferris left the group to pursue a solo career and was replaced by Axel Coon, formerly a studio assistant and co-producer for the band. With Axel in the band, the group released their highest-charting album (in Germany), "No Time To Chill", in 1998, and more success continued for four more years with another string of positively-received albums and singles. In 2002, Axel Coon also left the group to pursue a full-time solo DJ career. Jay Frog, a DJ that Rick had come to know very well in previous years, became the replacement. With the newest formation in place, the group released "Nessaja" in 2002, their first #1 hit. Since then, the group has released many more successful singles and three fresh albums, the most popular being their 2003 album "The Stadium Techno Experience". In August 2006, it was announced that Michael Simon would replace Jay Frog, who left the band to follow a solo career; since then, two albums have been released, "The Ultimate Aural Orgasm" and "Jumping All Over The World" (which reached #1 in the UK, a first for Scooter), as well as a string of singles, with no signs of slowing down. The Jumping All Over The World tour took place in Spring 2008. A new retooled version of their most recent album, accompanied by the new single "Jump That Rock (Whatever You Want)" with UK rock legend Statuo Quo, will hit stores Autumn 2008. |
