BIOGRAPHY: Notably billed as Canada's newest "punk princess", Avril Lavigne has been sailing on a string of angsty yet fun-loving rock hits throughout the world. She first learned to play the guitar at age 12, and subsequently began writing her own songs, describing how she was feeling through music. Avril was then discovered by Arista Records producer Antonio "L.A." Reid during a trip to New York City. Since her inception into the pop music universe in 2002 with the mega-hit "Complicated', Avril has been spreading her infectious brand of rock/pop with a string of sure-fire follow-up hits, including "Sk8er Boi" and "My Happy Ending", both coming from her two albums "Let Go" (2002) and "Under My Skin" (2004) respectively. Her third album, "The Best Damn Thing", was also well-received, rolling off the immense success of its first smash single, "Girlfriend".
